Today is Jemima's birthday.
You may or may not know Jemima, but she worked alongside me for five years, and I now consider her a friend (rare, I assure you...). She's hardworking, talented, beautiful, but not as confident as I know she will be after the big 3-0. She should be loving herself sick. Jemima has landed an amazing job as a Technician for Wella in their London office. Yep, this girl's got talent...and she never really knew it, until now.
And, I guess, I've always felt the same way. Nothing is ever good enough, or bold enough, or cool enough. But, maybe I'm wrong, and maybe I need to be a little more proud of myself too. So, here's my attempt at showing off!

Nadine Johns-Alcock is the director of Rokstar salons in Brisbane and has worked as a hair and makeup stylist for more than 20 years.

Staff changes
I can see why my clients would feel nervous when there's movement in the team, but does every young person have to stay in one place forever? Have you? I have had really long term people, like Jem and Jemima and Angela, and really short term, but fantastic people who will remain close, like Jen. Yes, Jen is going away...:( but she'll be joining her newly caught husband in country Victoria as he begins his teaching career. We'll miss her terribly, but I'm so pleased that Richard has a great job, and his loving wife by his side xxx
This means we have a new Salon Manager in West End......(drum roll....) DAVID! It's so exciting to see how far David has come in such a short time, but he has a huge year ahead. Master of Colour, which is a year-long commitment, and plenty of training for his new role. Here's a sample of what he's been up to lately:
My thesis
I'm back at UQ in about a week to begin following another passion: 18th century women's writing. I cannot believe this is crossing over, but somehow, the Romantic period is creeping its way into my hairdressing...
